Thoughts on Summer 2023

  04/17/2023 at 18:09 pm

So, it's 2023 and there is a brand new season upon us. Thinking about that, I know that could mean so many different things to so many different people. Maybe your new season is parenthood. Maybe your about to be a graduate and adulthood is your new season. Perhaps you are an empty nester and you're getting used to a quiet season. For us, living and working in a vacation area means our new season is Summer 2023. And that brings people, lots of people. That in turn makes things hectic and sometimes a little crazy. Sure the beaches will be full and parking will be a bear oh, and traffic will completely suck. And yes in August we'll start feeling tired and maybe a little grumpy. Some days we'll even have to remind ourselves to smile. But we'll also be thinking about our next vacation and that will remind me of what's truly important.

During all the craziness that the summer brings there are things that I try to keep in my mind. First, I think about how honestly blessed we are to live, work, and play in an area as wonderful as this. I think about all the families that save up all year for their one week of vacation. Their one week of fun. Their one week with time devoted to family. No work, no stress, no practices, or recitals, or games. Just time for relaxing and getting to know each other a little better as the kids get one more year older. Their one week. I think about the excitement of packing and loading up the car. Getting up early to hit the road. Don't we all want our vacation to last as long as possible? I think about all the conversations that will be had along the way. Sharing memories of past visits to Topsail. What new things will be there? What will be gone? What's changed? Where will we eat and shop. Pier fishing this year? What flavors of fudge will we bring home and will there be any new flavors? You see, these are thoughts that help me get through the season. The thoughts that pick me up. The thoughts that keep a smile on my face. Because I know that spending time with family and friends brings us so much joy. So much happiness. It puts smiles on all our faces.

We are all the same that way, I hope. We, here, are family too. We spend a lot of time together. Working, laughing, sharing meals together, traveling together. Making memories all along the way. We know how important that is and we strive on doing everything we can to make a visit here a highlight of your time on Topsail. So, our family invites your family to come in and spend some time with us. Take a look around. Ask us some questions. Make sure you spend some time at the fudge counter, we love to talk fudge and give out samples. We also just like getting to know you.

From us here at the Topsail Trading Co. and the Gift Basket, We'll see you when you get here.
